Editor's Review:
Flatmate Rooms is another site that has spring up in response to a growing trend for house-hunting online. With coverage of the whole of the UK, including major cities such as London, Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol, Edinburgh , Brighton and more, Flatmate Rooms offers access to a wide range of excellent property and flatmate ads to suit a range of budgets. Regardless of what it is you’re looking for – whether it’s a room to rent, whole house to rent, house or flatshare or just an individual flatmate – you’re sure to find it here. Read on to find out everything you need to know about Flatmate Rooms…
Signing up to Flatmate Rooms takes just 60-seconds with basic membership being free of charge. Once you’re signed up, you can browse through the ads on the site and use the excellent search functions to find adverts that suit your requirements. The property and flatmate adverts are well laid out and easy to compare, with all ads following the same basic layout. As well as great adverts, packed with information, Flatmate Rooms is also known for providing its users with a range of little extras that help to improve their experience and even save them money. Users can make use of template lodger and tenancy agreements (adapting them for their own purposes) in order to ensure that the terms of any agreement are properly recorded, as well as check out the Flatmate Rooms blog (which is updated with the latest news in the lettings market) and helpful guides for those who haven’t rented before.
As with many of the sites in this category, users of Flatmate Rooms can opt for either premium membership or free membership. Users with free, basic membership can place an ad on the site and wait to receive responses, as well as contact premium users directly. Premium users have access to a wider range of features including ‘top positioning’ of adverts, “hot badges” (which draw attention to their ads) and the ability to contact all users on the site. At its cheapest, membership of Flatmate Rooms will cost you around £8 per month, but shorter duration membership packages are less cost-efficient (with the 10-day package coming in at £15). That said, if you opt for the 30-day package (which costs £24.95) you also get a free 30-day guarantee, meaning if you don’t manage to find a room (or flatmate) in 30 days, you get a further 30 days free of charge.
Although Flatmate Rooms isn’t quite as big or well known as other sites in this category, such as Spareroom or RoomBuddies, we were still pretty impressed with what was on offer here. With a range of great features and clear, concise and well laid out ads, Flatmate Rooms is a great site – even if you don’t opt to upgrade your membership. If you’re looking for a place to live or a flatmate to join you, why not give Flatmate Rooms a go today!
