Flatshare is a UK-based flatmate and flatshare finding website that aims to give users the chance to find the ideal place to live (or the perfect person to share it with) without any of the hassle. You can join Flatshare for free and create a simple advert quickly and easily to try and sell your property. Though not quite as big as some other services in this category, Flatshare is easy to use and so well worth checking out if you’re looking to find a flatmate or somewhere to live anywhere in the UK.
In terms of features, Flatshare has a lot on offer – many of which mirror those that are offered by larger sites in this category. You can filter adverts using an excellent search tool that allows you to narrow down your results to help speed up the process, add photos and other media to your adverts to help “sell” your property and use the built-in messaging function to get in touch with vendors to arrange viewings. There’s also a great “buddy-up” system, similar to that pioneered by Spareroom, that helps you find others who would be interested in renting a particular property as a group. Finally, you can “flag” adverts that you would like to take a closer look at – a perfect way to keep track of the properties you like the look of.
Although there are a few good features on Flatshare, we’re not convinced that the site warrants its fairly hefty pricetag. The layout of the site isn’t all that intuitive and it does strike us as being a little amateurish, especially when compared with other sites we have reviewed. It’s quite difficult at time to navigate the site and the range of fonts and layouts on each page make comparing adverts and finding the information you need a little more challenging than it should be. What’s more, the price of membership at Flatshare is the same as that at Spareroom, and we would struggle to say that it’s worth choosing this site over Spareroom as the number of adverts available to look at here is substantially smaller.
All in all, while Flatshare does have a couple of good features, it’s not quite up to the standard we could expect from other big players in this category, such as Spareroom or EasyRoommate UK. While many of the features you can enjoy at Flatshare are the same as those at sites like Spareroom, there just isn’t the critical mass (in terms of the number of adverts) that you can enjoy at other sites – so you’re less likely to be successful in your search for a property or flatmate. We would suggest you check out this site to see what it has to offer and compare it with that at other sites in this category to see what works for you – hit the link below to see Flatshare for yourself, and compare it with other sites by checking out our other reviews!
